Donna Cross OAM is a Winthrop Professor at The University of Western Australia, and Senior Research Fellow and Strategic Advisor at Telethon Kids Institute.

Since 1999, Donna has been awarded over $84 million in funding to conduct research to improve child and adolescent, and their parents’ and school executives’, health and wellbeing. She has led more than 80 applied school and community-based research projects investigating ways to enhance students’ wellbeing and social and emotional development, and reduce anti-social behaviour in schools and families.

In 2012, Donna was named Western Australia’s ‘Australian of the Year’ for her services to children’s health and wellbeing. She is an invited Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and, in 2017, was a finalist for Western Australia’s Scientist of the Year award. Donna’s 2017 Churchill Fellowship investigated ways children’s wellbeing, development and learning are influenced by their use of technology.

In 2022, she was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to youth mental health and wellbeing, and inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame.
